Discover the Rome locals love
Rome is more than monuments and museums: it’s a city to experience through its food, neighbourhoods and the places Romans visit every day. Here you’ll find some of my personal recommendations: restaurants, street food, gelaterias, historic cafés and cocktail bars I know and am happy to recommend to my guests. They aren’t simply the most famous places; they’re the ones I believe best capture the city’s authentic character.
🍝 For a good dinner
La Vecchia Conca
Via Carlo Alberto, 26 - 5 minutes walk
A historic restaurant a few steps from Vinci House. Traditional Roman and Italian cuisine, elegant but informal atmosphere. The ideal choice for those who want to dine near the guest house without giving up quality.
Trattoria Monti
Via di San Vito, 13 - 6 minutes walk
One of the best-known and most appreciated trattorias in Rome. Refined cuisine from the Marche region, made with high-quality ingredients.
Trattoria da Valentino
Via del Boschetto, 37 – 12 minutes walk
A true Roman trattoria, simple and genuine, frequented by many Romans. Excellent value for money.
Trattoria da Augusto
Piazza de' Renzi, 15 – Trastevere – 40 minutes walk / 20 minutes by public transport
One of Trastevere’s historic trattorias. If you want to taste the most authentic Roman cuisine, this is a stop I recommend without hesitation.
Trattoria Il Tettarello
Via dei Capocci - 4/8 minutes walk
A lively trattoria in the heart of Monti, loved for its Roman cooking, generous portions and informal atmosphere. Pizza and grilled dishes are excellent too. Ideal for an authentic dinner at reasonable prices.
🍕 Street Food
Zizzi Pizza
Piazza San Martino ai Monti – 5 minutes walk
A small place with few tables, well known in the neighbourhood. The quality of the ingredients is excellent. I recommend trying the supplì, the fried anchovies and the pizza, made with carefully selected ingredients.
🍧 Ice cream, cafés and sweets
Fassi
Via Principe Eugenio, 65–67 – 10 minutes walk
Rome’s historic ice-cream shop since 1880. Artisanal gelato made in the traditional way, a short walk from Vinci House.
Regoli
Via dello Statuto, 60 – 6 minutes walk
A historic Roman pastry shop, famous for its maritozzi with cream and its extraordinary pastries with Chantilly cream and wild strawberries.
La casa del Caffè Tazza d'Oro
Piazza della Rotonda, 84 – 30 minutes walk
One of Rome’s most famous historic cafés. Don’t miss the celebrated coffee granita with cream.
Pompi
Piazza Risorgimento – 25 minutes walk
Since 1960 it has been considered one of the symbols of Roman tiramisù. A perfect stop before or after visiting the Vatican Museums.
🍹 Cocktail Bar
Drink Kong
Piazza di San Martino ai Monti, 8 – 8 minutes walk
Considered one of the best cocktail bars in Italy and listed several times among the world’s top fifty. An original setting, impeccable service and a top-level cocktail list.
